When I moved to the UK for my Master’s, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. But I came for growth, and I was ready to put in the work.
I took a loan, made a plan, and by the time I was halfway through my degree, I had already started job hunting.
With hope in one hand and a Google Sheet in the other, I tracked every hour of my day. I scheduled time for applications, research, and follow-ups like my future depended on it because it did.
I submitted over 1,000 applications. Landed 10 interviews. Reached the final round 3 times. Got 2 offers.
By early 2024, things seemed to be working out. I had both a part-time and a full-time role, and I finally felt like all that effort had paid off.
But it didn’t last.
The redundancy came without warning. Suddenly, the pressure of my visa returned overnight. I tried everything I could, but I couldn’t secure a new sponsor in time. And just like that, I had to leave the UK. No job. No backup plan. Just a return flight to India and a quiet sense of “what now?”
Back home, I gave myself one rule: I might need to settle financially, but I wouldn’t settle emotionally. I still wanted to grow. I still wanted to get better. That’s when I joined Unimad.
Unimad became my strategy lab. I used the CV builder to restructure my profile and the LinkedIn optimiser to present myself more clearly.
Unibot’s smart drafts made each application feel personal and intentional like I was finally telling the right story. More than anything, the platform helped me reflect. It pushed me to show not just what I had done, but where I wanted to go next.
Three months later, I landed a job. It wasn’t my dream role, but it was the first solid step in the right direction. And that was enough.
Because if there’s one thing this journey taught me, it’s this: sometimes you do everything right and still lose. But that doesn’t mean you’re lost. You just need to keep moving.
This journey wasn’t linear. I crossed countries, changed plans, and rebuilt from scratch. But I’ve learned to adapt. I’ve learned to lead with intention. And now, I’m back on track, not just with a job, but with clarity, structure, and a renewed sense of self.
Unimad helped me find that version of me. And from here, I’m only going forward.
