When I moved to the UK in September 2023, I was excited. I had finally found the exact course I was looking for, a Master’s in User Experience Design.

The structure made sense: one year, less expensive, and aligned with where I wanted my career to go.

But what I didn’t realise back then was that the real journey would begin after my course ended.

I thought I was being smart by focusing entirely on job applications after graduation. I didn’t take up a part-time role. I didn’t distract myself with anything else. I was fully committed to landing a job.

But, I wasn’t doing it the right way. And I realised it only later.

I applied to over 750 roles. And I was either rejected faster, or ghosted.

It was a lonely stretch. And for a while, I kept thinking I just needed to try harder.

What I actually needed was to try smarter.

That shift came when I joined Unimad.

The 1:1 coaching helped me rethink my strategy from scratch. I wasn’t just writing better applications, I was finally learning to communicate my value.

One of the biggest game changers was sending out cold emails with my Value Proposition Document attached. That’s how I got interview calls. Including the one that led me to Globant.

It wasn’t a massive change. It was a clearer one.

I realised I had been waiting to feel ‘ready’ before showing up on LinkedIn. But it was only when I began posting, connecting, and owning my story that recruiters started noticing me.

The resume builder, the message templates, the confidence to reach out, every part of Unimad helped me rebuild.

In March 2024, I landed a full-time role as a UX Designer at Globant.

From 750+ applications to that one “yes,” it felt surreal.

If I could do anything differently, I would’ve started sooner. I would’ve built visibility alongside my degree, and not after it.

If you’re in the middle of the search, not knowing what’s working and what’s not, keep going.

Consistency > perfection. Always.

And don’t wait until you feel ready. Start showing up anyway. That’s where the shift begins.
